The AI Paradox: Harness the Contrast for your Freedom

In June of 2023, my friend Eben Pagan called me and asked me if I was in front of my computer.

I was not.

But when my friend Eben calls me and asks me to be in front of my computer, I get in front of my computer. So I did. “Ok Eben – What do you got?” I figured it was good if he was calling me on a Tuesday at 8am.

He said, “Type in ChatGPT.com and ask it… anything.”

Holy… sh**t.

At that time nobody I knew was using Chat. Or Claude. Or Gemini – or any other platform for that matter.

I immediately introduced my community to ChatGPT as a tool – and the rest is history. Life has changed. Business has changed.

I changed around my Thanksgiving plans that fall to program WorldChanger, our AI platform that our women use here on our virtual campus to design their entire speak to sell sales funnel for them.

Now, I use AI every day. It’s helping my team & I move so much faster, serve people more effectively & it’s helping me be “hands free” which I love.

I frequently have several AI screens up at once – Claude working on organizing something for my team, ChatGPT creating graphics for me, Notebook helping me get a first draft of an article.

And with all that going on – deep down, I’m also a pretty hard core environmentalist, and a minimalist… and… I feel torn.

As a woman who composts her food scraps, sitting down to use a tool that is drawing an increasing amount of real energy from a real grid – Not to mention how AI could be optimized for power + destruction… instead of wisdom – I’ve found a paradox I couldn’t look away from.

I want to talk about that paradox. Not resolve it, but explore for the purpose of our own growth, impact & future income.

I kinda see this as a yin-yang moment. As we know, every era of human power has come paired with a shadow.

The printing press democratized truth and printed propaganda in the same ink.

Electricity lit up hospitals and strip mines in the same breath.

The cost of AI is real. The data centers, the water drawn to cool the machines, all the things. I’m not going to spiritually bypass that with a good vibe and a green smoothie.

And it’s also true that this cost is solvable. Solar can help us recycle our AI water systems.

Infrastructure that could be built for a fraction of what we spend catastrophizing about it.

So why rather than getting stuck on fear of “AI destroying the planet” – I keep reminding myself to shift into “how do we build the version of this that doesn’t have to”?

So here’s my inquiry.

What if the contrast itself is the teacher? What if the tension between the cost and the capability isn’t a problem to solve so we can feel comfortable again – what if it’s a call?

A call to hold complexity instead of collapsing it. A call to stop asking “is this good or bad” and start asking “what is this here to reveal in me?”

And so if this tool helps me get my medicine into the hands of more women faster – the coaching, the healing, the permission to finally charge what they’re worth, then the benefit of using AI is far outweighing the cost at this moment.

Because if we want to heal the world, we have to heal people – one soul, one human, one relationship, one body, one nervous system at a time.

I don’t think we’re here on this strange, beautiful, contrast-filled planet by accident. I think our souls came here to serve. And service sometimes looks like sitting with hard questions instead of hiding from them.

It sometimes looks like trusting that the very thing we live in paradox with – is also the thing equipping us to do our work quicker, wider, deeper, and with more love than you could alone.

And so to this day, I appreciate Eben, for calling me & for standing for all of us getting to the front side of a world changing (& yes disruptive) technology advancement.

And so I invite you Sister, to remember the world needs you giving your gift & using the tools at your fingertips to be efficient.

The world needs women entrepreneurs continuing to rise through these changes together.

The more we double down on being human, the more valuable our work is going to become – in the face of AI. I say… keep going, keep serving.

Keep embracing  the paradox of this changing world we’re in, faithful enough to keep growing, and brave enough to dive in & accept the support AI gives us anyway.

Your clients are waiting for you – and they’re now in an AI world waiting for mentors who can help them guide this next chapter of life on planet earth.

We came in for such a time as this.

Love,
Sage
