Transparent Marketing: Embracing Heart-Centered Leadership

I’m writing to you from Sedona as the sun is rising over the Red Rock Canyon. I’m here preparing to lead a retreat for my Lotus-level clients (these are women with six-figure businesses on the verge of breaking into seven figures). In anticipation of all I’m teaching them this week (I’ll share a little bit here) I woke up this morning to find myself reflecting deeply on our journey as women leaders, bringing our message into a world that is full of so much polarity and imbalance.

Regardless of which side of the fence you find yourself on politically, my experience of this month’s election in the United States stirred up some deep wounding & trauma in me around the “us vs. them” energy and… the essential polarization between the “masculine & feminine.”  All of these world events have me pointing back to one of my core truths. The principle of “HONESTY,” I believe, is the most powerful tool we have – when it comes to getting a message out through the noise. The night after the election, I was feeling particularly vulnerable (I think I must have been burned at the stake in a past life for being a witch and whenever I see people attacking each other publicly like in the election, I can end up in major fear & contraction). I also, like many of you, have been on the receiving end of violence and assault. My heart breaks for a world where people aren’t fundamentally safe.

At 2am, after finally falling asleep post-adrenaline election tracking… I woke abruptly to a loud crash outside my window and at that moment – at the same time that the power went out. My first thought was “I’m in danger. They’re coming for me! They want to put an end to my work with women!” I was immediately out of bed, into my bathrobe & tennis shoes, my puppy Hanu tucked under my left arm and a large can of whoop ass in my other hand. (Wasp spray that lives under my bed… just in case lol.) Hanu & I began to scout the territory. We discovered it was a ladder that had come unhinged & fallen against my house. And, the power was out in my entire neighborhood. I wasn’t being targeted by a band of angry anti-women’s empowerment beasts lol

And there under the stars, in the silence that can only come from a major power outage or the treks we take to get outside of town into the wild spaces… I had a revelation. It hit me that what my mentor Reverend Deborah always says is true. When it comes to 99% of our fears…

–   There’s no wolf at the door
–   And, there’s no wolf… and there’s no door.

A quick inventory of my situation left me giggling. I looked pretty hilarious in my robe & tennies, but here I was with a symbol of the loving masculine tucked under one arm with my sweet puppy, and the symbol of the ladder having crashed up against my house – representing the inevitable climb all of us driven people think is “so important” to be constantly climbing in this lifetime.

My opportunity, again and again in this life, has been to balance the feminine and masculine energies within me, and not to look to the external world to do that for me. We cannot build a business from primarily feminine energy. The feminine is like the river of creation, the masculine is like the riverbanks. And, regardless of politics or world events… there’s something bigger happening spiritually that is beyond what our eyes can see.

Many of you know, before I ventured into the world of digital marketing, I was a school teacher from Iowa. I loved being a school teacher, and when I got the tapped on the shoulder to start my business, I was skeptical about transitioning into a digital landscape that felt fraught with promises that seemed too good to be true. However, guided by my commitment to integrity and honesty, I took the leap, and I’m glad to say we are on our way, staying true to our values of transparency. We’ve been successful, having built a multi-million dollar training company that serves 100s of women entrepreneurs a year.

Managing a team while being the face of our brand has been a journey filled with joy, unanticipated fulfillment, and major lessons and growth. Yet, as life speeds up around us, I sometimes find it increasingly challenging to slow down and remain steadfast to wholesome values and radical truth. And, with the rise of AI… it feels to me like transparency is needed now more than ever.

I’m curious, how do you stay radically honest in your message, in this world that’s speeding up around us all the time?

And, would you like to explore this topic more with me over the coming months?

I’m on fire to be a part of a movement of women who are not just telling their stories but embodying their truths in their messaging and marketing. This is a poignant moment for women to embrace their power, to tell their stories unapologetically, and to lead from a place of alignment and honesty.

I’d love to hear from you. Would you be willing to share your thoughts on how we can best connect with our authentic selves, share what’s true in our messaging & inspire others to do the same?

Let’s cultivate a world where transparency and heart-centered leadership thrive, where we don’t apologize for making offers but rather, we are honest about the fact that we have something to sell. Your future clients deserve the version of your message that is fully aligned with truth and empowerment. We need your experiences. We need your stories.

Let me know your thoughts here in the blog comments below & I look forward to the continued conversation over the next few months. I’m putting a stake in the ground that 2025 can be the most honest, heart-centered, and truly abundant & successful year for our businesses.

Your clients are waiting for you… they’re not waiting for someone like you… they’re actually waiting for you. ALL my love,
Sage
