Hey Sis
I just spent 13 days in India, and the honest truth is… I’m still integrating all that unfolded there. It’s been raw, messy, blissful, and utterly incredible. My heart feels both tender and expanded beyond what I imagined possible.
My primary motivation for going was to meet over 300 girls we’ve had the honor of supporting through our partnership with the Girl Power Project and my dear friend Vivian Glyck. Standing alongside these girls was one of the most humbling experiences of my life.
Something I don’t often share is that I was abused and mistreated in my childhood. This cause of empowering girls to stand up to abuse… is deeply personal to me. (And to so many women).
On those days when sitting at my computer feels like the last thing I want to do, and when it feels like the world is changing so quickly and so uncertain…
I think of my younger self. I think of these girls, their courage AND their resilience to keep rising at this time on planet earth… And I find the energy to keep fighting for what I believe in.
As we’ve grown over the years, Women Rocking Business has had the honor of growing even during times of economic downturn.
And so, every year, we keep donating & raising hundreds of thousands of dollars to provide these girls with empowerment training. This program helps prevent childhood pregnancy, early marriage, and other challenges that we all know are crucial to address.
When we got off the bus, we were greeted by hundreds of girls, dancing and drumming to Bollywood music. They rushed to hug us, their joy palpable and contagious. I even sat next to the principal of one of the schools that welcomed the Girl Power Project into his curriculum.
In a country where gender inequality runs deep, his decision was bold. I took his hands, looked into his eyes, and said, “Thank you for loving our girls.” His eyes welled up with tears.
From there, we traveled to Rishikesh to witness the sacred Aarti fire ceremony on the banks of the Ganges River at the foothills of the Himalayan Mountain Range.
We had the honor to join hundreds of devotees who gather to release what no longer serves – through song, fire, and prayer was profoundly moving. Their unwavering devotion reminded me of the power of letting go to make space for what truly matters.
As I reflect on this journey, I want to share three takeaways that can help you grow your business this year:
Looking into these girls’ eyes and witnessing their courage and strength… gave me courage.
I hope I can share that courage (and strength, and resiliency) with you RIGHT NOW.
I’ve returned home ready to square my shoulders to take EVERYTHING I’m learning and to keep bringing it back to YOU – so you can build a resilient, philanthropic business that YOU love.
Namaste,
Sage
