S2E1: How I Created a Community of 50,000 Women Entrepreneurs

Welcome to Women Rocking Business, where we are here to help you rock yourself, rock your life, and rock the world as a woman entrepreneur, because the world needs you and the time is now. I’m Sage Lavine, CEO, trainer, unretired, camp counselor, and best-selling author of the Hay House book Women Rocking Business. We’ve had the honor of serving over a hundred thousand women entrepreneurs around the globe, just like you, who are here to do more, be more and have more by giving your gift to the planet. Let’s do this.

Hello women entrepreneurs who are on a big mission to change the world.

Sage Lavine

00:00:42

I am here celebrating with you because we are now 50,000 engaged members, strong in the Women Rocking Business Sisterhood, Facebook group! Wooo, I’m so excited!

I want to actually share for a few minutes, how we went about growing this group over just the last few years. I actually have a confession to make. I was ready to shut this group down a couple of years ago because y’all can be high maintenance. No, actually it’s not in you. It’s all the spammers. It’s all the stuff that happens in groups that you have to deal with. Many of you might be asking the same question. Is it worth it to nurture a Facebook group or a social media group or a LinkedIn group?

Sage Lavine

00:01:23

Is it worth it to keep putting all this energy and all these organic posts and “are people even paying attention?” Sometimes it can feel that way. So I want to give you a few tips.

The first thing I recommend you do, if you haven’t already is start your Facebook group, nurture your Facebook group. Like I said, I almost shut this group, my group, the Sisterhood group down a couple of years ago, because we were just spending so much time removing people from the group for spamming and just, you know, managing the group. I realized let’s just do this for six more months. Let’s start to put some of the posting on autopilot, right? So we reuse posts sometimes from a few months ago, we schedule our posts ahead of time so that we don’t have to be doing it all the time.

Sage Lavine

00:02:10

I hired someone, a community manager, to come in and help me love you guys up in that group. Of course, help me remove people when they don’t belong. But this group has proven to be one of the most lucrative parts of our business. Has it been worth it to put that extra energy in, to take care of this group? Abso-freaking-lutely!

We actually just did a multi-million dollar launch out of this group. So what I want to say to every single one of you is that groups are HOT. Groups are hotter than anything you could be doing with social media advertising. Facebook, for instance, doesn’t want to be known as an advertising site. They want to be known as a social site. They want to be the site where all of us come to hang out.

Sage Lavine

00:02:53

If you don’t have a group already be sure to launch one. Make sure you have a hot title. Make you have a reason for people to join that group. That they’re not just going into the group to be a part of the group, but that you put a training inside that group. Just like I’m going to put this training – some of you are watching in this Sisterhood group right now. This training is a valuable reason for you to be in the Sisterhood  group. So make sure you do that.

Here’s the thing about groups. What you can do inside of a group is so much hotter and more engaging than what you can do say on your business page. Because on your business page, that’s open to the public. Anybody can just post, they might not even be really relating to each other, but inside of a group, people can post and then they can comment on each other’s posts.

Sage Lavine

00:03:39

So that’s super hot to actually create community. I just want to really emphasize that what you do inside of a group to create community is like gold. Because when people see your content online, that’s one thing. But when they engage with your content and when they engage with you and when they engage with each other, that’s almost like seven touch points in one, you know? You’re hearing people say, “Oh, you need to have 10 touch points with your ideal customer before they buy. You need to have 20 touchpoints. You need to have 30 touch points.” But the real truth is that that touch point, isn’t just about a touch point.

Sage Lavine

00:04:19

It’s about intimacy and connection, right? Connection is currency. So the more connection you can make with that potential customer, the more you’re now in a relationship. So when you invite them to post, then comment on each other’s posts in the same way that I’m inviting you to go post the URL to your Facebook groups and then join each other’s groups. Now we create like a feeling of everybody linking arms and rising together. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of tha? So for instance, maybe you have a Facebook group for parents who want to learn how to be better parents and raise happy, healthy kids. You could have your parents post a picture of their family inside the group as one of your calls to action as one of your engagement strategies.

Sage Lavine

00:05:04

Then you could invite everybody to please go comment and love up at least three of the other parents in this group. Give at least three of the other parents, some love and tell them what qualities do you see in their family? Because now you see this snowball effect of people really connected, not just to you, but to each other. That’s where you get to build a business. You get to create a community that then becomes a movement that then becomes a multi-million dollar enterprise, where you’re supporting and getting to make a difference for so many people. So start a group, don’t forget to use the engagement and even what we call the gamification techniques.

Sage Lavine

00:05:44

I’ll be teaching a lot more about this in an upcoming training. Keep an eye out for it. It’s the seven day, how to Stand Up and Stand Out Online training. I’m going to teach you all seven days of content and tools, tips to really help you stand up and stand out online. But for now start your group and start to learn how to engage people in that group and to start to even gamify that group. So you could have people again, post pictures, commenting on each other’s pictures, and you could even let people know, “Hey, this week, I’m going to choose the most creative picture that you post, and you’re going to win a 30 minute breakthrough session with me.” Then you can go on to describe why that 30 minute breakthrough session is so awesome.

Sage Lavine

00:06:29

Guess what? You’re going to give one of those away, but you may have seven more people or 12 more people shooting you a Facebook message saying, “Hey, how do I get one of those 30 minute breakthrough sessions anyway?” That’s exactly what you want. Right?

Sage Lavine

00:06:43

I want to just take a pause and share something I know you guys might want to know about and that’s that we just launched a Rock Your Business bonus training package for anyone who buys my book, Women Rocking Business. The book hit number one when it was recently published with Hay House and the book is a 12-step system for any woman to go from having just an idea to building a six- or seven-figure business with a simple and elegant business plan that’s based in women’s values. You know, women are starting businesses one and a half times faster than men right now, but we’re also failing faster than men. But what I’ve seen is that when we learn to build businesses that align with our innate values of collaboration, rather than competition empowerment, rather than power over.

Sage Lavine

00:07:26

When we build businesses based in generosity, rather than using scarcity and manipulative selling tactics, I see women thrive as successful CEOs, and in our community, we see 80% of businesses succeed rather than 80% of women’s businesses failing. So that’s why we have this special promo happening right now. When you buy the book, you’ll get immediate access to our full training course. That’s four video modules on how to make money with your message. You’ll get our entire system to really get going. You’ll get my freedom formula training on how to grow a business and make great money and a huge impact in just 12 days a month or less. So go grab the book over at www.womenrockingbusiness.com/book and get all those bonuses so that we can get you going because your clients are waiting. Once again, that URL to buy the book www.womenrockingbusiness.com/book.

Sage Lavine

00:08:20

The last tip I have for you is to not just rely on your group alone, but to diversify. So that might mean opening up an Instagram account. If you haven’t already, that might mean launching your Facebook business page. One of the great things about a Facebook business page is over there on that business page, which is also known as a fan page, you can actually boost your videos.

So here’s what I recommend. If you do a video and you put it in your group, or you go live in your group, by the way, live video is even hotter, because anything you do live is going to rank higher in people’s feeds just like anything you do in a group is going to rank higher in the feed of those group members. But don’t forget that a business manager page is super awesome because it’s connected to a business manager account.

Sage Lavine

00:09:07

So what I meant to say was a business page or a fan page is connected to your ads account. When you want to start scaling up and running ads on Facebook, you’re going to need that business manager account, which is connected to your business Facebook page. You can start by just boosting your posts and here’s how to do it. You’re going to want to put your posts up and don’t boost them right away. Okay? Because if you boost them right away, it can get in the way of the organic traffic that will already naturally go to that business page. So you’re going to want to put your posts up, put your videos up, wait at least 48 hours. Wait a couple of days until you get some good visibility on those posts.

Sage Lavine

00:09:48

You’ve noticed that some people are starting to check out your posts. Maybe you have some comments. Then we recommend putting like 10 or $15 a day for just three days into boosting that post, because that’s just going to get a lot more eyeballs on that post. What we’ve noticed out of doing a bunch of research over here at Women Rocking Business is once you go past about three days, a lot of those people that are seeing that post aren’t even necessarily your ideal audience anyway.  So again, save your money, just keep it to like 10 or $15 a day for three days when you boost posts and just get eyeballs on your content. Then don’t forget to give people a call to action.

Sage Lavine

00:10:28

So let me know in the comments again, what is the best link to find you on social media? Ideally, it’s a Facebook group and then go join some of each other’s groups. Then let’s all keep linking arms and rising up to get our message out there together. Because despite what’s going on in the world, despite all of the external stimulus, if you’re going through any kind of a transformation, if the universe has been tapping you on the shoulder, reminding you that you have something bigger to give that you have a gift that people are waiting for, there’s no accident that that’s happening. That’s actually the universe coming to get you to say, “I am ready to do my work through you.”

Sage Lavine

00:11:13

Don’t worry too much about all this technology stuff. Just challenge yourself. See if you can just learn to couple new things every week, a couple of new tips every week, and don’t worry about getting everything right all at once. I always tell my clients, if you even do 5 five or 10% of what we lay down for you in our programs, we have women go and build multi six-figure businesses. And when they come back, they say, “Sage, I only think I had maybe like 10 or 15% of all the things that you guys laid out!” So I’m saying that to you, don’t try to do everything all at once. Choose mentors you trust, choose communities that you trust, choose a place where you feel like you belong.

Sage Lavine

00:11:53

Stick with that community. Stick with that plan. So we can continue to help you grow your movement online and get your message out there because we’re living in unprecedented times and what’s needed most is your gift. Your clients are out there waiting for you. They’re not just waiting for someone like you. They’re actually waiting for you.
